SURFACES LIVE!! | REDHAT
Surfaces – Red Hat Amphitheater, Raleigh NC
A bright, feel‑good opener with heart, horns, and hands reaching out to the crowd
Surfaces brought their signature warmth and upbeat energy to the Red Hat Amphitheater on August 4th, 2022, opening the night in support of LANY’s tour stop in Raleigh. From the moment they stepped on stage, the band radiated a kind of joy that immediately pulled the crowd in—no hesitation, no slow build, just pure feel‑good music delivered with charm.
Their performance blended horns, smooth vocals, and a playful stage presence that made the set feel alive. Surfaces didn’t just play to the audience; they connected with them. At several moments, band members reached out toward the front row, touching hands and sharing that close, personal spark that fans always remember. It was a simple gesture, but it said everything about how they approach their live shows—with openness, gratitude, and genuine interaction.
Musically, they sounded tight and polished. The horns added a bright, summery texture to the set, while the vocals carried that familiar Surfaces vibe—light, melodic, and effortlessly catchy. Even as the openers, they filled the amphitheater with enough energy to make it feel like their own headlining moment.
With fun, movement, and a crowd‑friendly attitude, Surfaces delivered exactly what an opener should: a good time, a great sound, and a performance that set the tone for the rest of the night. Raleigh showed up ready for LANY, but Surfaces made sure they were already smiling, singing, and fully warmed up long before the main act hit the stage.
