TURNSTILE LIVE!! | PNC ARENA
Coverage by Chris Sturk
Turnstile – PNC Arena, Raleigh NC
Pure energy, pure grit, pure rock.
Turnstile hit the stage at PNC Arena on August 26th, 2022, bringing a surge of raw energy to Raleigh as they opened for My Chemical Romance’s long‑awaited reunion tour stop. Hailing from Baltimore and formed in 2010, the band has built a reputation for explosive performances—and they lived up to every bit of it.
Even as the openers, Turnstile refused to play it safe or small. They came out swinging, delivering a set that felt less like a warm‑up and more like a full‑scale takeover. Their impact was immediate. The crowd—already buzzing with anticipation for the night—locked in with them from the first note.
There was no elaborate lighting rig, no massive production, no theatrics. Turnstile didn’t need any of that. Their show was built on pure hard‑rock adrenaline: pounding drums, driving riffs, and a stage presence that never let up. The simplicity made the performance feel even more intense. It was just the band, the music, and the moment.
They moved with purpose, feeding off the arena’s energy and giving it right back. Every song hit with force, and even fans who came strictly for MCR couldn’t help but get pulled into Turnstile’s momentum. By the time their set wrapped, they had done exactly what a great opener should do—leave a mark, win over new listeners, and elevate the entire night.
Turnstile’s stop in Raleigh wasn’t just another tour date. It was a statement. A reminder of why they’ve become one of the most talked‑about bands in modern rock and hardcore. No frills, no flash—just impact.
