⚡ Van Halen Live at Walnut Creek – September 9, 2015

Venue: Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, Raleigh, NC
Tour: North American Tour 2015
Support Act: Kenny Wayne Shepherd

On a humid September night in Raleigh, Van Halen stormed the stage at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre with a setlist that was pure adrenaline and nostalgia. Touring in support of their live album Tokyo Dome Live in Concert, the band—fronted by David Lee Roth and anchored by Eddie Van Halen’s legendary guitar work—delivered a blistering performance that reminded fans why they were one of the most influential rock acts of all time.

The setlist was a deep dive into Van Halen’s classic catalog, with a few surprises and solo showcases that added texture to the night:

  • “Light Up the Sky” opened the show with explosive energy

  • “Runnin’ With the Devil” and “Everybody Wants Some!!” brought the crowd to its feet

  • “Drop Dead Legs” and “Feel Your Love Tonight” showcased the band’s groove and grit

  • “Dance the Night Away” and “Beautiful Girls” added melodic swagger

  • “Hot for Teacher” and “Unchained” were delivered with ferocity

  • Covers like “Ice Cream Man” (John Brim) and “You Really Got Me” (The Kinks) paid homage to their roots

  • Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo was a masterclass in virtuosity

  • The encore featured “Panama” and “Jump,” sending fans into euphoric singalong mode

The concert wasn’t just about the hits—it was a showcase of individual brilliance. Alex Van Halen’s drum solo thundered through the amphitheater, while Eddie’s guitar solo was transcendent, blending speed, precision, and emotion. Roth, ever the showman, danced, kicked, and bantered with the crowd, bringing theatrical flair to the performance.

This show was part of Van Halen’s final tour with David Lee Roth, making it a poignant moment in rock history. For many, it was a full-circle experience—seeing the band that defined their youth still delivering with power and precision. The Raleigh stop was one of the standout dates on the tour, remembered for its energy, musicianship, and emotional resonance.
